It's so cold in the Creek

It has been really cold this last week. If we would not have already had the day off on Friday (Professional Development) we would have had a day off because of how cold it was. The boys and Ang have been trapped in the house with how cold it has been. Jax was out for preschool but that was cancelled on Friday because of the cold. I was supposed to be working in Jax's classroom on Monday, but the teacher forgot that they did not have school that day. I was excited to finally make it into his classroom and help, but I will have to wait for another day. Brady has really started to talk more and more. It seems that he is learning a couple new words everyday and he still gets just as excited when he realizes that we understand him. His diet has not been great lately but he ate like a champ today. He had three pieces of toast, rice, and some corn for dinner tonight and ate pretty good the rest of the day. He also has to run everywhere that he goes. He is like a little Forrest Gump always running. B also peed in the potty tonight, but all of it went down his leg. Tonight, I tried to explain how to aim properly, but I don't think that it will matter next time. At least he is trying and interested in going. Jax is stir crazy inside the house. I have taken him outside a couple times but it has just been to cold to take him out. I have been talking with him about his imaginary house and the possessions that he has in it. He will talk for 10 minutes with me about his lawn mower, snow blower, weed whacker, truck, motorcycle, the colors it is and goes in great detail. He really tries to have adult conversations and does a good job with it. He will laugh when he runs out of ideas, but I can get him to talk more with a couple good questions. He also has started to teach at Pennfield and rides his motorcylce or Jeep there. He is going to go teach the kids and then watch the football game. Both boys have been trying to punish mimi and papa for going to Florida. Neither one will talk on the phone or talk about them during the day. I finally convinced Jax to ask them for some batteries for his trains and he reluctantly accepted and talked to them. He ended up having a good time and talked for a while. Brady grabbed the phone and said batteries a couple times then gave it back to me. Jax talked to Grampy on the phone tonight about their motorcycles and having to fix them. He also asked Grampy to send him double-wide batteries instead of double A. Jax does not have any tools except for a hammer to fix his. He needs to get more tools in his workshop in order to fix it. He also has a blue truck with a purple end as well. Jax has been saying some pretty cool prayers as well. He prayed for Henry inside of Uncle Tim's belly, for his cough to go away, for Grams and Gramps coming over tomorrow (he made it up that they were coming over), and for the kids in his class.

Christmas morning

The boys had a blast this morning. After we got home from Mimi and Poppa's last night, Jax threw up in his bed two times! He handled it like a champ and eventually fell asleep. Hopefully he will not get sick again tonight, because Ang and I have a date tomorrow night. We really are blessed to have such a giving family. The back of the van was almost completely full of toys from our Christmas parties coming home last night. I think that I may have had as much fun as the boys playing with the new toys and putting them together. Merry Christmas

Christmas Concert

As usual, we have been busy with everything that is going on. It is kinda scary to think that we are only going to get busier as the boys get older. Jax is still doing great at Preschool. I am not sure how much he likes his teachers but he really enjoys playing with the other kids and enjoying some of the activities. He has learned some funny words and games so far, hopefully no bad language with be learned. We thought that Brady said the “s” word a couple days ago, but it was a fluke because we have not heard it again (we hope that it was a fluke). Ang was gone today and it the boys were left at home to be boys. While I was cleaning up dinner the boys were wrestling and running around, I did a little bit of refereeing but not as much as Ang might. At one point, Jax told Brady “remember we only do this when mommy is gone” I about dropped the pan that I was washing I laughed so hard. Jax had a preschool concert last Friday and he did great jingling the bells for Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. As you can see in the video he did not do much signing and concentrated on playing the bells. While he was up on stage, Brady was having a huge fit because he wanted to be up there with him. Ang had him in the hallway trying to get him to settle down, but it was not too successful. It was late and he wanted to do something and did not want anyone or anything getting in his way. (I think that Jax is watching Brady have a fit at one point in the video)

Chris Alder Jr.

Here is Jax making his daddy proud. I can't wait to see his face on Christmas when he sees that he gets his own drumset!

Too long

Sorry for the delay in posting (I am probably the only one to read this and it won’t be for a couple years). School has been keeping everyone busy. We had Parent teaching conferences for Jax in his first year of preschool, the teachers love him and raved how cute he is. He does need to work on his skipping and dribbling, but most of his other skills are up to par. It is sad that testing has crept into preschool and kindergarten. Jax is loving preschool and Sunday school. He was a little upset today in church but he decided to wake up at 5:45 this morning. He and B are napping right now; they have not been able to change their internal clock to go along with the time change.
Ang and I went to a banquet at church for people who serve at church on Friday night. It was nice to go out and have adult conversation while Grams and Gramps watched the boys. Both boys had a hard time when they left. Part of their sadness was due to Daisy leaving as well. Brady ran down stairs instead of getting me on Saturday so he could see Daisy instead. Daisy was so tired from being chased and played with.
Brady is talking so much now, he keeps on saying Me Me whenever we go anywhere in case we forget about him. I don’t think that we could forget him with him being so loud. The poor boy dropped some cans on his toes today and his big toe nail turned blue almost instantly. It had to hurt and he cried for a long time.
Jax has eaten ice cream two times this weekend without too many ill effects. He was getting backed up but he did not this weekend. The deal tonight was that they had to eat their corn or potatoes and then they could get their ice cream. Jax ate them but B was being stubborn and would not eat either. That made him very upset as well but he forgot about it until he smashed his toes.
It is nice to be finally winding down in my Masters classes. Only two more weeks for this semester then I am that much closer to being done in the summer. IT will be nice to have that done with and I can focus on being a teacher and dad/husband.
Hopefully I can start to post more once I settle down a little. Christmas is coming and I cannot wait to see the boys reaction when they wake up. Jax is getting a drum set and he is going to freak out when he sees it.

Trickster

I have noticed more and more the last couple of weeks that Jackson has been tricking Brady out of what Brady was doing. Brady will usually fall for it until he realizes after the fact that Jax has what he was playing with. Brady will scream bloody murder and Jax will start laughing.
They have been wrestling more and more, I find it very entertaining and I am glad that they learned by watching me wrestle matt. The moves that they come up with are great. Both boys like the head smach where they roll on top of each other trying to smash the others face and or head. Jax can still get the upper hand over Brady but they usually will giggle until one of them gets hurt. Knock on wood, nothing too serious has happened to them.
Jax loves going to school and to church. When we put him down for bed tonight, he got excited when Ang told him that he is going to school tomorrow. He has a friend named Brett at school now and was kinda upset that he was not at school on Friday. Mrs Morgan said that he kept on looking for Brettt at school.
I played the drums for the first time at Church this weekend. Jax and Ang watched me on Saturday night. I could kind of see Jax standing in the aisle clapping and dancing at points. Ang said that he climbed back onto his chair so he could drum. The lights were so bright on stage that I could get glimpses of him off and on. Saturday night service did not go very well but we were able to practice again on Sunday morning and get things straightened out. It felt amazing to be able to play with a band again and worship at the same time.
B has been talking about me cutting the grass as much as Jax does. I now get asked if I am going to cut the grass 20 times instead of 10. It is funny to hear B say grass. He is missing most of the g and r of grass but you can tell what he is saying.
Hopefully I can keep up with this blog more but most of my time on the computer is spent on MSU or Pennfield work.
